Americans are among one of the most stressed in the world. The American Psychological Association (APA) issued a warning that the US is facing a national mental health crisis. The APA even predicted that this conglomerative stress is going to result in severe health and social consequences in the following years.
Thankfully, the country was quick to realize how important it is to abate stress and anxiety. As a result, many stress management techniques, from practicing mindfulness to yoga have cropped up. In the slew of coping mechanisms skyrocketing to fame, rage rooms are another important inclusion.
What is a Rage Room?
A rage room is a facility fitted with breakable objects. The concept is that you go into the room, armed with a weapon of choice, and break all the things you want. Of course, you will need to pay a certain amount in exchange for the smashing spree but it comes without the guilt or worry about having to clean up later.
Note that since a rage room is not very PG-13, most facilities only allow adults. Even then, you will be required to wear safety gear and sign waivers promising civil behavior.
Why are Rage Rooms Healthy?
Relieve Stress
Between gas prices at a record high, summer traffic, and the corporate grind, it is only fair if you need to blow off some steam. Sometimes we may not see the aftereffects of accumulating stress in our minds, but sooner or later the frustration is bound to find a chink in your armor and burst out through it. Rage rooms are a healthy way to channel that stress. Imagine the TV you are smashing to smithereens is actually the evil printer from your office that runs out of ink every time you need to print something urgently. Let your imagination run wild. There’s aplenty to break.
Anger Management
Do professional and personal situations test your temper often? There is no way you could lash out at your boss, but no one said anything about beer bottles. An occasional smashing session, hurling beer bottles at the wall could take you off the edge. The best part is you don’t hurt anyone in the process and your personal and professional relations remain unaffected. Not only does a visit to a rage room act as an outlet for all that anger but it also ensures that you don’t harbor ill feelings towards your acquaintances. Dissolving the bad blood makes sure the relationship doesn’t bear the brunt of some disagreement in the past.
New Experience
The best thing about rage rooms is that they are an entirely new experience. It’s a break from the mundane monotony of daily life and offers a refreshing way to vent out your stress. Apparently, the boring routine of life can also be a major reason behind feeling stressed and unfulfilled. Working 40 hours a week can take the spice out of your life and leave you stranded in a pool of inexplicable urban sadness. A day out with your friends in a break room is going to spruce up your weekend. An experience that you will remember for many years to come.
Bonding Time
A stressful life does more than make us angry and frustrated. It also compromises our relationships. After a particularly hard day at work, you will most likely be too deflated to ring your friends or even pick up your mom's calls. Over time, such incidents keep piling on top of each other and isolate you from your friend groups and family. And it’s not even just you. Your friends are probably stuck in a similar cycle. A rage room gives you the opportunity to spend some time with your buddies and just chill for once. The experience connects you and those accompanying you. You have fun breaking stuff together, some may even see it as bonding exercise.
Breakroom 405 is located at 2215 NW 178th Street Suite A, Edmond, Oklahoma 73012. In addition to a rage room, our facility also houses a smash alley and splatter room. What’re you waiting for? Hop in with your crew!
